Which is better: Monthly recurring donations, or a lump sum now?
On the value of sustaining donations vs. one-time: A donor asks: “[My partner] and I decided to donate $2,500 to MVP. Would it be preferable for us to sign up as sustainers at $200/month, and plan to continue that at least through the next year? I suspect that it might help MVP more to have the lump sum now, but I’m not sure. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.” - Martha Golub

What are MVP's 2024 U.S. House targets?
Is there a list of the 40 Congressional districts that MVP is investing in for the 2024 elections? I just saw that Blue Tent is starting a donors’ fund for a group called Action Together New Jersey to try to flip NJ-7, and Blue Tent promises to roll out more donor funds for other congressional districts. I’ll be interested to see if there are overlaps between MVP’s list and Blue Tent’s list. - Margit Birge

Is MVF monitored by groups that provide oversight to 501c3 organizations?
There are organizations that publicly report on the effectiveness of 501c3 organizations, including the percentage of donations used for fundraising and other administrative activities. Several years ago a potential large donor said he would not donate to any organization that did not subscribe to this oversight. Does MVF participate in this? If not, why not? Thanks. - John Christoforo

What percentage of donations go to grantee groups?
If some donations now cover the salaries of capacity-building and program staff, is there a guaranteed percentage that goes directly to the grassroots groups? We’ve been assuring potential donors that all the donations go directly to groups; with the new policy that some of our donations support staffing, donors are likely to have concerns about their money going to cover “administration” or mid-level management. - Margit Birge
